Reduced Waiting Times for your upholstery kits! (June 2023)
Zenair has been offering beautifully-crafted upholstery kits for Zenith Kitplanes for many years. These seats were only available in faux-leather vinyl for the longest time; since last year, however, builders now also have a cloth option. The padded seats are easy to install and include seat-cushions and seat backs for both seats, a control-stick boot with a "between-the-seats" cover as well as matching padded cabin-sides that extend from under the instrument panel to the front of the seats. Each seat back has a full-color "Zenith Aircraft" embroidered logo on the front, and (for the CH 750) a "map" pocket on the back. Black material and rubber edge-trim for the dash are also included as part of these upholstery kits!
Until recently, these custom upholstery kits were only manufactured once they were ordered, allowing builders to choose from a variety of colors and cabin-side options, but causing significant delays. Since 95% of all seats ordered were two-tone grey (see illustrations below), this pattern has now become the new "norm". We now premanufacture these kits and can usually ship within days of a confirmed order! Other color options available from us in the past (tan, black, burgundy) have now all been discontinued.

Another improvement: Cabin sides are now supplied unassembled allowing the aluminum backing to be easily trimmed before adding the provided foam padding and vinyl (or cloth) covering. This approach allows for a better fit around custom side-mounted cabin features such as fuel valves, air vent holes, map pockets, etc. It also gives builders more options for securing the cabin sides to the airframe: pressure buttons, clips, snaps, Velcro, etc. Once the aluminum backing fits as desired, the supplied foam padding and covering material can be added with contact-cement (not included in the kit). Additional personalized side-pockets for documents, phone, cables, water-bottle, etc. can also be built-into the cabin sides (or not), as desired.
When ordering your Upholstery Kit, you just need to specify the model of the aircraft, your preferred material (vinyl or cloth) and whether you have the standard "Y" stick or a Dual Stick installed (for the appropriate stick boot)!

"Just wanted to drop a note to all concerned from start to finish on my upholstery kit I just received. Tried a fitting today and with the exception of slightly filing a bracket or two just under the side rails, the fit is perfect! From the videos I've seen, I always thought the logo was imprinted or stamped in. How delightful to see a classy embroidered emblem, to my surprise!
