ZENAIR STOL VARIANTS
Over the years, the three basic Zenair STOL designs (CH 701, CH 750 and the CH 801) have all been adapted for a variety of specialized uses. In most cases, necessary changes to the standard airframes were made in collaboration with Chris Heintz and Zenair now has drawings for these "Special Mission" (SM) designs. Using this information, Zenair can now customize airframes so that operators can get the most from their non-standard "Sky-Jeeps". The STOL CH 801 HD is an enhanced version of the popular
4-seat STOL CH 801 kitplane. Beefed-up and outfitted with custom equipment, it
makes for a versatile and agile crop-sprayer; it can also perform a wide range
of other demanding roles from coastal patrols to surveillance, wildlife protection,
aerial resource management, etc. With a useful load of about 1,000 lbs, the
aircraft will carry personnel, cargo or sensitive detection equipment such
as radar, scanning systems and/or high-resolution cameras. The STOL CH 801 HD can operate in extreme hot/cold
weather conditions making it a reliable and safe solution for many mission profiles. Best of all, the 801 takes off in only a few hundred feet!

AGRICULTURAL SPRAYING: As a crop-duster, the slow-flight capabilities of the STOL CH 801 HD make it particularly efficient for chemical applications in tight and/or difficult areas to access by more traditional means. The aircraft can operate from rugged terrain or from a few hundred feet of roadway, cutting down significantly on servicing trips to the airport for chemical or fuel refills. SURVEILLANCE AND PATROLS: As a support vehicle for law enforcement activities, the CH 801 HD is ideally suited for border and pipeline patrols. With advanced communications/surveillance systems on-board, it can also enable ground action to be coordinated during detection and interception activities. The versatile and highly-capable STOL CH 801 HD maximizes reconnaissance abilities when other resources are limited. The Zenair STOL CH 750 is an ideal, lightweight airborne observation platform. Outstanding STOL performances make it possible to manoeuvre in tight spots like a helicopter, but at a fraction of the cost. The rugged landing gear system - combined with its unique STOL performances - mean the aircraft can be safely operated off-airport on just a few hundred feet of clear terrain or roadway.

The Zenair STOL CH 701 has a long history as a successful low-cost, low-volume pest-control and crop-spraying aircraft. Most often used in Europe and Africa where field sizes are modest, the aircraft can be registered and operated as an ultralight in many countries.
