Special-Purpose (modified) Zenair designs:
Over the years, a number Zenair designs have been customized and enhanced to perform specialized missions in varied environments: humanitarian to agricultural tasks; flight training to law-enforcement; even military work. Some of these aircraft are still offered today, others are not; in almost all cases, customization was completed by the builders/users, not by Zenair.

*A note about "Experimental" Aircraft
Amateur-Built aircraft (also known as "Experimental") are not type-certificated in most countries and must be built, registered and operated according to specific rules and regulations. The performances and specifications provided by Zenair for its various kitplane models assumes registration and operation in this ("Experimental") category. See here for more about Canada's "Amateur-built" requirements. Contact your local CAA for rules in other countries.

A note about LSA Aircraft
In the past, the Zenair CH 650 and the STOL CH 750 designs were both certified, manufactured and sold as ready-to-fly, factory-built S-LSA in the USA. Production ceased due to market conditions and new S-LSA versions of these aircraft are no longer available at this time (2015). Note: Any aircraft that meets the design standards and performance limits of a Light Sport Aircraft as defined by ASTM standards for LSA may be flown by a Light Sport pilot where allowed by the regulations. This applies to the CH 650 and to the CH 750 and is valid in the USA, but not in Canada (where the LSA rules are not recognized and therefore don't apply).

**A note about AULA Aircraft
Advanced Ultralight Aircraft (AULA) are a special category of ultralight aircraft in Canada. Aircraft registered and maintained as AULA may be purchased "ready-to-fly" and may be operated as two-seaters and in flying schools. Note: Regardless of the engineered Gross Weight for a specific aircraft model (i.e. 1,320 lbs for the CH 650), all aircraft registered as 2-seat AULA are limited to a Gross Weight of 1,232 lbs. In addition, special assembly requirements apply to AULA. Please read this page carefully for details.

***A note about ULM Aircraft
Zenair aircraft models designated as "ULM" (European Ultralights) meet stringent LTF-UL German certification standards. The reference aircraft for these type-certificated models are defined in the appropriate German data sheets (Kennblatt); ULM aircraft may not be modified and must be maintained and operated as per regulations.
Zenair currently has three type-certificated models of LTF-UL-compliant ULM: the CH 601, CH 650E/Ei and CH 701. These light-weight ULM Models are not available for registration in North America.
For more information, visit www.zenairulm.com or a European-based Zenair representative.
